A concert by the brothers Dagar, Muslims living in Bengal, India. Commentary by Asian arts expert Faubion Bowers on Hinduism, the seed syllable "Om", mysticism, ancient Moghul India and the music performed here. These are "ragas", the most ancient format for Indian music. Their roots are in Islam and Hinduism, with many references to the Upanishads. The highest virtue of the singer is accuracy and fidelity to the traditional manner of performance, for this music is a kind of worship.
