This timely program examines how literature, art, movies, media and music perpetuate artificial male and female roles. The history of sexual stereotypes is traced through the writings of Sylvia Plath and Simone de Beauvoir. And passages from Shakespeare, Wordsworth and Byron idealize the stereotypical woman as fairhaired, beautiful and unobtainable.
