Julien Maire’s unique, intricate and fragile hand-made projector performances.
Born in France, Julien Maire currently lives and works in Berlin. Maire’s work has been exhibited internationally in solo shows at galleries and group shows including Les Rencontres Internationales de la photographie, Arles, France; and Hull Time Based Art, Hull, UK. Maire has performed his live projection works at venues including Site Gallery, Sheffield, UK; ZKM, Karlsruhre, Germany, Transmediale 01 and 04, Berlin; and EMAF, 2004. 

Julien Maire currently resides and works in Berlin. In his artworks and performances, Julien Maire systematically re-invents the technology of visual media. His research is a manifest hybrid between media-archeology and the production of new media constellations. His performance Demi-pas receive an Honorary mention in Ars electronica in 2004, the performance Digit and the installation Exploding Camera receive both an Honorary mention in Ars Electronica 2007. The Exploding Camera also receive the award of New Media Art from the Fondation Liedts-Meesen in 2008. This work was finalist for the World Technology Award in New York in 2009. Julien Maire takes part in the first co-residency program of V2_ and the Transmedia Program in Arts, Media and Design Brussels.
