In Port-au-Prince and  its surroundings, women from very modest backgrounds try to transcend their material condition by practising a powerfully expressive folk art. Glitter, paint, plastic, metal, waste: nothing escapes their creative desire.

A source of pride as well as a means of expression and empowerment, this profession like no others also gives them a certain financial  independence.  But let there be no mistake: the task is not easy and competition is fierce.

If popular culture ithe culture of those who are deprived of  power, then thpower to create gives the 14 women of this film the desire to continue the struggle ...

An urban anthropologist, Natacha Giafferi-Dombre has been taking the pulse of the Haitian capital since the mid-1990s. Her studies of motherhood and infancy representations, the persistent use of racial categories or the destructuring of the traditional social fabric have led her on the path of documentary filmmaking in order to reach other audiences than those of the University, and to show a combative, resourceful and always creative Haitian society in spite of all hardships.

This film follows the short Jen fi parey mwen / Girls Like Me (l O', 2015, produced by the Haitian Resource Development Foundation /Jacques Bartoli), created in support of the young women artists of the collective Atis Rezistans for their participation at the 4th Ghetto Biennale (2015) in Port-au-Prince.
