The astoundingly energetic National Dance Company of Sierra Leone, on Africa's west coast, in 1964 won the international dance competition at the New York Worlds Fair with their display of folkloric dances.

This program reflects the cultural diversity and tribal traditions of the country. Commentary by dance authority Faubion Bowers takes the viewer through a variety of dances, and an interview with the company's director, who explains that thirteen different tribal and language groups are represented in this group.

Dances are shown from several different tribal traditions.
